Michael Skalka knows about art materials!
I “met” Mikhail Skalka (as on the Internet) many years ago when I was studying the glow duration of art materials. Back then it was Michael
- American Experimental Materials Association (ASTM) D01.57, Chair of the Subcommittee on Artistic Colors and Related Materials , who also currently chairs.
- Conservation Administrator at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC (for over 37 years) where he oversees the daily operations of the Department of Conservation . Recently retired.
We have continued to write about the duration of light from time to time as we have continued to do so over the years.
Since retiring, he has started a retirement project and published art content on his new website/blog Syntax of Color . This website offers a wealth of expert and reliable information on the materials and components of the visual arts (past and present). I did a great online color project in 2008, learned a lot about color and pigment/material properties (I've been interested in this topic ever since), but Michael regularly posts good quality information. never met and this is very interesting and informative. He also writes well.
I would highly recommend Color Syntax to anyone interested in using color among themselves and spreading their knowledge of the quality media they use.
Find out more about what's included below. It also includes a variety of art supplies for artists.
