LS Lowry: the emerging artist and how he priced his paintings

Today I came across an unusual image among the numerous image files I transferred from one device to another. This is a list of Lawrence S. Lowry's or LS Lowry's precious oil paintings, as he became popular later in life.

The headlines say a lot about life in Salford at the time.

List of painting prices shown by LS Lowry in 1921
Rowland Thomason's 87th Moselt Street office in Manchester.

Lowry's website has a chronicle of Lowry's life ; he looked like that, and it seems, he first exhibited his paintings in 1921.

In 1921, Louri exhibited his work with two other artists at an architectural studio in Manchester. The Manchester Guardian was praised by Bernard Taylor, who described Lourini as "one who can make a real difference in art".
So I looked at the Rowland Thomason Office and foundthis archive page on the architectural experience at Manchester Victorian Architects .

He announces
In 1921, artist LS Lowry, along with two others, exhibited at Rowland Thomason's 87 Mosley Street, Manchester office. Here Louri sold his first painting, a cake called "Teaching".

So the first painting Lori sold was a cake she sold for 10 guineas.

Today, money purified from inflation is equivalent to more than 500 AZN .

Louri developed the theme of painting the cityscape he saw on his travels as a collector.

Ten years after its first sale, it was curated by the Manchester Art Gallery
Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

Lithographs of his works are now sold in thousands. His oil paintings usually sell for £ 100,000.

The most expensive sale of Lori's work was The Football Game , which sold for 5.6 million pounds in 2011 . He was a big fan of Lowry City and was a little interested in the look of football !

The moral of the story?

Draw what you know. Pull what you like and enjoy

So as an artist, think carefully about how much you value your paintings. It is probably more important to sell than to set a very high price and do nothing.

You also need to think twice about the price that attracts impulsive sales ...
